What is "Getting Official?" "Getting
Official" means that you have gone through the process of assigning an ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
and obtaining an LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number), EAN/ISBN barcode, and copyright.
Why would I want to "Get Official?" The assignment of an ISBN is a globally recognized identifier for the ImagineInk
Publishing Company's edition of your book. Without an ISBN, most booksellers and distributers won't handle your book. The
EAN/ISBN barcode on the back cover of your book will have a brief library cataloging record, which contains information essential
to librarians. A copyright will ensure your rights of ownership of your book. If you are publishing your book for just
family and friends and are not planning to sell it in bookstores, these items are not necessary.
What type of binding should I choose? For short
stories, novels, and biographies over 50 pages, Perfect Binding is the most acceptable. Cookbooks are most suited
to Spiral, Comb, or Wire Binding. Poetry books are often Saddle Stitched (stapled on the spine)
and are called Chapbooks. Poetry books and Short Stories of 50 pages or more can be Perfect Bound.
Do you provide a proof of my book? Definitely, A proof is a mandatory service
in order to protect you by ensuring that your book is exactly what you order. There are three options: the first is Electronic
Proof. This is a proof sent via email in pdf form; second is an Unbound Galley Proof; and the third is a Bound Galley Proof.
Each of the proofing methods carry a differend cost to you. You will be apprised of those when filling out the "Request
for Quote" form.
Ordering information may be found in our "Shipping/Policies" section.
